A Filipina and Jordanian live-in couple was arrested for duping more than 100 aspiring overseas Filipino workers by offering them fake jobs in Dubai in exchange of cash.
National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) spokesman Deputy Director Ferdinand Lavin said that the couple, identified as Jordanian Ali Moh Khalil Tarrish and Filipina Myrla Olor, were arrested by the NBI’s International Airport Investigation Division (NBI-IAID) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3.
They were netted by the authorities following the arrest of one of their accomplices Conchita Paculba in another entrapment operation.
The couple victimized over 100 aspiring OFWs by offering them jobs in Dubai as cleaners, waitresses, delivery boys, janitors, and drivers.The victims are asked to pay placement and processing fees ranging from Php25,000 to Php32,000.During the course of the recruitment, the couple was able to receive Php4 million from their victims.
The couple will face charges for large scale illegal recruitment under the Migrant Filipino Workers Act of 1995 and estafa under the Revised Penal Code.
Two other accomplices, Virginia Adling and Mel Madera, are still at large.
