Riyadh: Passengers have the right to a ticket refund and compensation equivalent to 100 per cent of the unused sector if an air carrier notifies them of the cancellation of an international flight 14 days before the original time of travel, Saudi Gazette reported.

If an international flight cancellation is notified between 14 days and 24 hours before the original scheduled departure, passengers have the option of an alternative flight within 24 hours of the originally scheduled departure time or cancel the ticket, said the Department of Customer Protection at the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA).

Passengers have the right to get refund and compensation equivalent to 100pc of the unused sector if an air carrier notifies them of the cancellation of a domestic flight seven days before the original time of travel.

If a domestic flight cancellation is notified between seven days and 24 hours before the original scheduled departure, passengers have the option of an alternative flight within 24 hours of the originally scheduled departure time or cancel the ticket.

If the air carrier notifies its customer of the cancellation of a domestic or international flight between 24 hours and four hours before the originally scheduled time of departure and the air carrier fails to offer the customer an option of finding an alternative flight within six hours from the original time of scheduled departure and the customer is forced to make a reservation with a different air carrier, the original air carrier should refund the ticket price and offer a compensation equivalent to 100pc of that value.
