Indian beauty queen and actress Sushmita Sen expressed her gratitude to the Philippines as she celebrates the 25th anniversary of her Miss Universe win.
Through an Instagram post, Sen said that winning the said pageant 25 years ago has given her the “proudest identity” as an Indian woman.
She went on to say that the love, respect, and adulation she has been receiving over the years since she won Miss Universe has been “undoubtedly [her] life’s greatest earning.”
She then went on to thank the people of the Philippines for the continuous support they have shown her.
“I want to remember and thank the people of my second home, Philippines. I Thank God for the privilege of having Won Miss Universe in their beautiful country. They continue to overwhelm me with their love and belonging to this day, even naming their children Sushmita,” she said.
Sen became a well-loved beauty queen among Filipinos after she was crownws as the first Indian Miss Universe when the pageant was held in the Philippines in 1994.
She also used the hashtag #MahalKitaPhilippines in her post.
It can be recalled that Sen returned to the Philippines in 2016 to judge that year’s Miss Universe pageant wherein France’s Iris Mittenaere was declared as the winner.
At the end of her post, Sen thanked the people who have been with her throughout her Miss Universe journey and beyond.
